The Pomegranate Gin and Tonic – Two Ways!

That’s right! I’ll give you two ways to enjoy the Pomegranate Gin and Tonic. Options are good, you know! And sometimes, you want to go for color, and sometimes you want to go for layers.

Pomegranate Gin and Tonic Ingredients
Super easy ingredients – Gin, Tonic, Pom Juice, Mint

This crazy easy cocktail is low on ingredients, and if you spend just a little extra time being careful, you can create the ombre effect. Or not. It’s an easy sipping G and T, and the pomegranate flavor is not super bold. Everything sort of melts together in a lovely way. It’s also not super sweet, so the gin can come through.

Pomegranate Gin and Tonic

A great way to add color and intrigue to your traditional Gin and Tonic, by adding just a hint of pomegranate flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 Oz. Pomegranate juice
  • 2 Oz. Gin
  • 4 Oz. Tonic water – maybe more, maybe less.
  • Fresh mint For garnish.

Instructions

  • Start with a chilled balloon glass.
  • Toss the wet ice you are chilling with, and start to layer your drink.
  • Pour your pomegranate juice into your balloon glass.
  • THEN add your ice.
  • Slowly – and I mean really slowly – add your gin.
  • Then, also slowly, add your tonic to top off.
  • Garnish with mint.
  • Take some photos for the 'gram.

Some technique tips that took me several tries to figure out!

There were many attempts at creating these lovely layers, and it boils down to a few things.

  • Don’t move the glass around as you are making the layers.
  • Pour the pomegranate juice (or grenadine if you want a sweeter drink) first – then add your ice.
  • Very slowly – and I mean slowly – add your gin, then your tonic. I was able to get some nice layers after I used the ice cubes in the middle of the glass as a sort of sled for the gin and tonic to slip down.

Lovely Pomegranate Ice Flavors This Gin and Tonic Version

Another way to make the Pomegranate Gin and Tonic.

Instead of fussing with layers and slow pours, you can use frozen pomegranate cubes to deliver the flavors. The silicone ice trays are easy to use and come in lots of shapes and sizes.

The ice will immediately turn your cocktail a gorgeous color, and of course, the flavors will be mingled quicker than the layered version of this drink.

Delicious Pom Ice

If you want things to be sweeter, make your own grenadine from pomegranate juice and use it to make other delightful drinks like the Monkey Gland.

Grenadine Syrup from Pomegranate Juice

Make your own grenadine cocktail syrup from pomegranate juice. No high-fructose corn syrup in this recipe. And it's so pretty.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Pomegranate juice

Instructions

  • Combine your sugar and pomegranate juice on the stovetop.
  • Bring things up to a boil, stirring to encourage the sugar to dissolve.
  • Let things simmer a bit to thicken up.
  • Cool and store in a jar! Keep your fresh grenadine in the fridge for safekeeping for a few weeks.
