The Eventide Gin Cocktail
What the heck is the the Eventide? Well, it’s a clear gin cocktail that just so happens to be in a fancy red glass, so everything looks pink. It’s an unusually flavored cocktail experience, and one that’s definitely worth trying. I found the flavors to be a bit bitter, dry, and slightly herbal. The Eventide is also easy to make, and easy to drink!
It’s simple enough to make this drink – it’s quite literally Gin and Cocchi Americano. Add two dashes of bitters, orange preferably, and then you are done. Garnish with a twist, but I had some cool dehydrated wheels, so I used those instead. Go nuts.

Notes on the Eventide Gin Cocktail
What on earth is Cocchi Americano? It’s a fine hybrid of wine, liquor, herbs, and bitters. It technically is a wine with added bitters, botanicals, and spices. Did I also mention quinine, the famed ingredient of tonic water, another gin cocktail necessity? There’s a hint of bitter to Cocchi Americano, but nothing like Campari, and not so herbal you are drifting into Chartreuse territory.
There is nothing truly spectacular about a clear drink in a boring glass, so treat yourself to fancy glassware to spice this drink up.
There is another version of this recipe that calls for soda in addition to the main ingredients, which will certainly tone things down a bit and perhaps make your drink last longer? Perhaps!?
Cheers to good decisions!
