The Gin Old Fashioned

Hang on to your shirts, this gin cocktail is potent.

Equipment

  • Rocks glass and muddling spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 Oz. Gin Pick your fave!
  • 1 Cube Sugar
  • 2 Dashes Angustura Bitters Or any type of bitters you like

Instructions

  • Make this one in your rocks glass. For tradition's sake, use a thick and heavy rocks glass.
  • Pop your sugar cube into the glass, top with your bitters, and smash away. You can add a tiny amount of water to make this go faster.
  • Add about half of your gin and stir until the sugar is gone.
  • Fill your glass with ice. It's usually best to use one large square or circle of ice, otherwise, it melts too quickly and waters things down.
  • Pour in your remaining gin.
  • Garnish with an orange slice in the glass if you like. Or rub some orange peel on the rim and garnish with that.
  • You can also garnish with a Luxardo Cherry, which I dare say are quite easy to make and also delicious. Or drop that one in your drink, too.
